What We do

We help you with complaints against moderation decisions made by online platforms (e.g., removal, deletion, editing, restriction, blocking, labeling, Denial of access
and inaction despite notification) of your content of any kind (text, link, graphic, photo, video, audio, stream, software, tool, or other material) that is based on violations of the community guidelines, terms of use/general terms and conditions, or national law.

Moderation decisions may be based on allegations of insult, defamation, hate speech, and threats of criminal acts, incitement or solicitation to commit criminal acts, false accusations, extremist propaganda and symbols, Cyberstalking, doxing/deepfakes/violations of privacy and confidentiality, copyright infringement, coercion, fraud, and computer fraud (non-exhaustive list).

Platform Control protects your fundamental rights

It’s no secret: compared to the digital world, the balance between freedom of expression and fundamental rights applicable both nationally and across the EU works much better in traditional print media.

The reason for this is likely that, on the one hand, professional journalists publish the content, more time is spent on articles, and the question of responsibility and attribution of content is clear.

However, the the question of responsibility has now been clarified in the digital world. It is the responsibility of online platforms to moderate content. It is not their responsibility to remain inactive for fear of censorship. Google, Meta, and others cannot do as they please, but must comply with applicable law, even if they do not always want to.

This is where Platform Control comes in.

Our mission is to improve the way online platforms interact with people and communities. We reinforce fundamental democratic values by examining the content decisions made by Meta, Google, and other companies. In doing so, we aim to improve the balance between fundamental and human rights.

To achieve this, we exercise independent legal control over the content moderation of online platforms and make decisions on content issues in both highly complex and straightforward cases.

Our goal is for online platforms to improve their own moderation standards in the long term, act more transparently, and treat all users fairly, so that the digital world becomes a positive place for everyone, regardless of gender, origin, or religion.

Our vision

Our vision is for the internet to become a space where freedom of expression is upheld, there is no censorship, and yet everyone can participate.
